Position Details

This position involves facilitating a community drop-in program for parents and their children aged 0-5 years, funded by MCFD through the Early Years Services contract. The facilitator will manage group sessions, plan activities, maintain program records, and update resources. Key responsibilities include facilitating groups, setting up and cleaning the space, performing administrative tasks, and promoting positive family interactions. The position requires effective communication skills, knowledge of child development, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media. This program is funded through MCFD.

Duties and Responsibilities

Facilitate community drop-in groups for parents and their children aged 0-5 years. Perform front desk administrative tasks. Set up and clean up room/toys/dishes. Manage time and location changes for group sessions. Plan and facilitate activities during the group, including crafts and parenting education sessions requested by families. Maintain bulletin board with information, education, and activities for families. Keep program records and statistical data as required by the CDC and funders. Create resources and update KCDC resources available to families. Keep the website and Facebook pages current and up to date. Attend team meetings to discuss the shared space with all users. Organize time and responsibilities and work independently. Order, shop, and deliver for the Good Food Box.

Skills

Communicate effectively with children, families, and the KCDC team. Promote healthy and positive family-child interaction and positive parenting. Share knowledge of parenting information with families and promote resources within KCDC and the community that will support families. Demonstrate ability to adhere to and implement the KCDC's principles, policies, and practices, including understanding and maintaining confidentiality. Knowledge of community agencies and resources available to families of children aged 0-5. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, technology, web, and social media editing. Knowledge of child development within 0-5 years of age.

Qualifications

Current driver's license. Completed Criminal Record Check. Basic First Aid or Child Safe certification.

Additional Requirements

* Available Monday to Friday (some weekend work may be required for events).
