Hours: 35 hrs/wk.
Range: $36,502- $47,625

Location: 20 Bansley Avenue- Epnigishmok

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Assistant Supervisor, Early Years, the Assistant Early Childhood Educator will:

  • Support in developing and implementing appropriate early learning programs for children ranging from 0-6 yrs.
  • Follow an emergent curriculum, incorporating the ELECT framework and Indigenous framework.
  • Assist in delivering early learning services to parents and children such as literacy and interactive learning activities to help ensure children are ready to learn and make it easier for them to make the transition to school.
  • Assist in planning, developing, and implementing programs of stimulating activities for preschool/kindergarten children, including field trips.
  • Promote physical, social, emotional, and intellectual well-being in all activities.
  • Provide support to children in their daily routines.
  • Provide staffing relief at mid-day to maintain staffing levels and quality care.
  • Maintain accurate reporting, statistical data, and documentation of children\xe2\x80\x99s development and interactions.
  • Provide daily communication with the team & parents.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families & staff team.
  • Be responsible for classroom housekeeping.
  • Complete general administrative tasks i.e., playground inspections, fire drills, and health and sanitizing reports.
  • Ensure legislative, health, and safety standards are maintained at all times.
  • Be available for location reassigned to any NCFST Early Learning Program within the GTA.

Qualifications:
  • A diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred. Suitable for a student pursuing post-secondary education in Early Childhood Education.
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Screening - Police Reference Check and willing to obtain new one upon hire.
  • Up-to-date immunizations.
  • Current Infant/Child CPR and Standard First Aid Certificate.
  • Knowledge of the unique dynamics that exist within the First Nations, Inuit, and M\xc3\xa9tis cultures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; organizational skills; initiative and respect for confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated understanding, and commitment to, integrating the Native Child and Family Services of Toronto Mission and values into practice, service, and relationships.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Workplace Health and Safety practices and understanding of an employee\xe2\x80\x99s responsibility under current legislation.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff, maintain effective communication and working relationships, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, tact, and sensitivity and build strong internal relationships.
