Job Overview:
Terra Centre is looking for Level 3 Early Childhood Educators interested in working in an environment of continuous professional learning to empower children and families at our Child and Family Support Centre located at Braemar Highschool. Reporting to the Manager Early Childhood Development, the Early Childhood Educator works as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to co-create responsive environments to nurture children's well-being and sense of belonging. The position involves co-planning and implementing emergent programming to support children's holistic learning and development. Early childhood educators work within a practice of relationships with the whole family to share and generate ideas to learn more about their children.
Job Conditions:
This is a temporary position ending on or before April 18, 2027 with the possibility of extension.
Braemar School Location. 9359 67a St NW, Edmonton, AB T6B 1R7
Primarily infant and toddler centre
35 hours/week - 10 months starting late August/Fall
Available Monday to Friday between 8:00am - 5:30pm
Key responsibilities:
Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to empower children and families
Value play as a learning process
Co-create responsive environments to nurture children's optimal well-being and dispositions to learn
Plan engaging experiences based on observed interests for the holistic learning and development of children aged 0 - 5 years.
Work within a practice of relationships with families to share and generate ideas and foster a sense of belonging
Build trusting and supportive relationships with children and families.
Plan and implement programming in collaboration with ECE team based on emerging interest that support each child's holistic learning and development
Engage parent and child(ren) in activities that strengthen their relationship
Support children and families' connection to community
Document children's learning experience through formats that include learning stories, project documentation using multiple perspectives- children, co-educators, and family
Incorporate cultural factors in the planning and delivering of programming
Actively participate in continuous professional development?and annual professional review
Provide mentoring support to teen parent families
Work in collaboration with agency programs and community partners in the best interest of the family.
Provide operational supports for the continuity of programming for children and families
Serve as an advocate for children and families
Conduct required program related assessments, evaluations, and reports
Qualifications:
Minimum Diploma or Degree specific to the field of Early Learning/Early Childhood Education
Early Childhood Educator Level 3 Certification is required
Brain Story Certification considered an asset (AFWI).
Trauma-informed Care Training considered an asset
Completion of the MacEwan Flight Course (Exploring Early Childhood Curriculum) considered an asset.
Experience working with children aged 0-3 years.
Experience working with children from diverse backgrounds
Must be at least 18 years old
Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of Alberta Early Learning and Care Curriculum Framework (Flight)
Knowledge of Alberta Early Learning and Child Care Regulations
Knowledge of AHS Health and Safety Guide for Childcare Facilities
Knowledge of Alberta Nutritional Guidelines for Children and Youth
Experience working with children and families from diverse backgrounds and cultures
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities
Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft word, Outlook, PowerPoint
Other Mandatory Conditions for Employment
Clear (or Executive Director approved) Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, dated within 90 days prior to start date, renewed every 3 years
Clear (or Executive Director approved) Intervention Records Check, dated within 90 days prior to start date, renewed every 3 years
Current Childcare Standard First Aid with Level B CPR, renewed every 3 years
Manual dexterity is required to operate various appliances and equipment
Ability to lift and carry between 25- 50 lbs.

Compensation: The starting hourly wage is $27.69 per hour including government top-up for Level 3 ECE or commensurate to experience.
We offer 2.5% increase annually on base salary (before top-up).
Upon completion of a probationary period, we offer a comprehensive, competitive, extended health benefits package including RRSP contribution. Staff have three weeks of vacation annually, and, in addition, the agency is closed between Christmas and New Years.
Terra Centre also offers free onsite or street parking depending on worksite location. We are also a casual business attire organization.
