Little Bear ELC, a brand new, non-profit child care center, is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Early Childhood Educators ans a toddler room supervisor. This role involves implementing the curriculum and schedules developed by the Pedagogical Leader, actively engaging with children, and creating a nurturing, culturally inclusive environment. Early Childhood Educator's will also be responsible for conducting twice-yearly parent-teacher conferences to discuss each child's progress and development, fostering strong communication with families.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Implementation:
Execute the curriculum and schedules developed by the Pedagogical Leader. Deliver lesson plans and activities that are developmentally appropriate and aligned with the center's educational goals.
Child Engagement:
Actively engage with children through interactive play, structured activities, and learning experiences. Foster a positive and supportive environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and social interaction.
Observation and Assessment:
Observe and document each child's progress, behavior, and development. Use observations to tailor interactions and activities to meet individual needs and support growth.
Classroom Management:
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment. Implement positive behavior management strategies and ensure that all safety protocols are followed.
Parent-Teacher Conferences:
Prepare for and conduct twice-yearly parent-teacher conferences to discuss each child's progress, achievements, and areas for development. Provide actionable feedback and collaborate with parents to support their child's growth.
Family Communication:
Build and maintain strong relationships with families. Communicate regularly about their child's progress and address any concerns or achievements as they arise.
Team Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with other educators and the Pedagogical Leader to ensure consistency in curriculum delivery and to support a cohesive educational environment.
Professional Development:
Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
Health and Safety:
Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children in your care. Follow all center policies and procedures related to health and safety.
Qualifications:
Education:
ECE Level 1, 2, 3
Experience:
Experience working with young children in a child care or educational setting.
Skills:
Strong understanding of early childhood development and best practices in education. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively implement curriculum and engage with children.
Certifications:
CPR Level "C"/AED
Food Safety
WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System)
Additional certifications in early childhood education or Metis/Indigenous education are assets.
Language Skills:
Proficiency in Cree, French, or Michif is a strong asset.
