Job Description

You will be responsible for providing nurturing care and education to young children in a group setting under the supervision of the Centre's Director; in accordance with the goals, curriculum plans and the philosophy and policies of Sandy Steps Child Care Centre. We are hiring for multiple positions and shift times will vary between 6:45am and 6:00pm.

Duties

Develop and implement child-centered programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, spiritual, and social development of children. Supervise children to ensure their safety during activities and routines. Engage children in age-appropriate activities like play, art, reading, and outdoor exploration. Assist with meal times, personal hygiene, and toileting as required. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment, ensuring proper sanitization of toys and materials. Implement positive guidance strategies that promote constructive behavior and support social-emotional learning.

Skills & Abilities

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Problem-solving and adaptability in a fast-paced environment. Teamwork, collaboration, and classroom management skills.

Requirements

Previous experience working with young children in an early childhood education setting. Knowledge of child development principles and play-based learning approaches. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with children, parents, and team members. Ability to create and maintain an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity. Clear criminal record check (including vulnerable sector check). Familiarity with licensing regulations and standards in early childhood education. Formal training is available for the right candidate.

Pay: $15.00-$25.50 per hour
