Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Educator and Naturalist to join our team. The ideal candidate is adventurous and will be responsible for fostering a positive and engaging environment for young children primarily in the outdoors. This role requires a strong commitment to upholding the longstanding programs vision and values, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with families and colleagues to support the development of each child.

Duties

Plans and implements developmentally appropriate activities that align with the programs values and goals. Maintains facility's Childcare Licensing Regulations. Fosters a nurturing and inclusive environment that promotes social, emotional, and cognitive development. Provides feedback to parents and guardians on their child's development. Collaborates with colleagues to create a cohesive experience for all children, creating a strong sense of community and belonging. Utilizes effective communication skills to engage with children, parents, and colleagues. Keeps up an organized environment indoors and outdoors ensuring all materials and supplies are accessible and well-maintained. Adapts teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of children. Completes specialized training as requested by the program director. Encourages creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Fosters curiosity in and a connection to the natural world. Educates children on native fauna and flora.

Skills

Proficiency in English. Strong background in childcare, with experience working with young children in an outdoor setting. Excels at providing creative support to children in a Play based Child led programs. Group leadership experience; skilled at team building and possessing qualities that inspire confidence and curiosity in young learners. Is adaptable and intuitive supporting individual neurotypes. Excellent teaching abilities, can develop program plans in advance and spontaneously. Strong communication skills for effective interaction with children, parents, and other educators. Effective time management and organizational skills. Works well independently.
We are on-boarding with Childcare Fee Reduction Initiative and ECE wage enhancement Adding an additional $6.00/per hour to base pay

Applicants must have current ECE certificate in B.C., Current Child-safe First aide and Criminal Record Check.
