Position Summary



Huckleberries Child Care is seeking a dedicated, confident, and passionate Early Childhood Educator who thrives in a play-based, nature-inspired environment. The ideal educator enjoys spending time outdoors with children, supporting exploration of the natural world, and creating meaningful, developmentally appropriate learning experiences rooted in the BC Early Learning Framework.

This role requires a self-motivated educator who is skilled at managing groups of young children, able to work independently with up to 8 children, and committed to collaborative team teaching.

Play-Based & Nature-Inspired Learning



Facilitate daily outdoor and indoor play experiences that encourage exploration, creativity, problem-solving, and confidence. Integrate natural materials and seasonal elements into learning environments. Encourage children's emerging interests and extend them through thoughtful invitations and interactions.

Child-Centred Practice



Provide warm, responsive care to children aged 18 months-5 years. Use positive guidance strategies to support group dynamics, self-regulation, and emotional well-being. Maintain routines that support children's independence, belonging, and sense of security.

Curriculum & Documentation



Plan developmentally appropriate experiences aligned with the BC Early Learning Framework. Observe, document, and reflect on children's learning to help inform curriculum decisions. Participate in ongoing reflective practice and program planning.

Health, Safety & Licensing



Maintain environments that meet or exceed BC Child Care Licensing Regulations. Conduct daily safety checks and ensure play spaces are safe, organized, and inviting. Respond confidently to incidents, behavioural challenges, and emergencies.

Teamwork & Professionalism



Work collaboratively with colleagues to support a positive team culture. Confidently lead small groups independently when required. Build meaningful, respectful relationships with families through open communication. Engage in professional development and contribute to the continuous growth of the program.

Qualifications



Valid ECE or ECEA Certification (ECE preferred). Clear Criminal Record Check (Ministry of Justice). Current First Aid & CPR-C certification (or willingness to obtain). Strong understanding of play-based learning and the BC Early Learning Framework. Effective group management skills and confidence working independently with young children. Enthusiasm for outdoor play in all weather conditions. Reflective, self-motivated, and genuinely passionate about early childhood education.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $29.00-$31.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
