JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Children's Program Supervisor, you will provide a safe, nurturing classroom and outdoor environment with proven strategies and practices that support the HighScope curriculum content (similar to the NB curriculum).
You will also provide appropriate supervision of children while ensuring a consistent, high-quality education and classroom experience.
Your main focus will be:
Ensure strict adherence to New Brunswick Day Care Standards, Child Victims of Abuse, follow the Standards of Moncton Headstart as indicate by the Minister of Education.
Duties:
Implement the HighScope curriculum and work towards becoming a certified HighScope teacher through onsite training (provided by Headstart at no cost)
Mentoring and/or coaching parents during classroom visits
Provide support and act as a resource for parents regarding their child's care and development as needed
Implement routine documentation of daily classroom activities, incidents, and observations
Communicate with parents through introductory home visits and classroom visits (Days In)
Communicate and follow-up with Child Protection/Social Development as needed
Ensure cleanliness, care, and safety of children
Classroom cleaning/disinfecting, set up/tear down of learning environments
Work collaboratively as a team with colleagues and families
Be professional, reflective, and intentional when working with children, the team, colleagues, families, and the community
Serve as an advocate for the rights and needs of children
You will require:
Bachelor's Degree, diploma or certificate in Early Childhood Education
New Brunswick Learning Curriculums (Anglophone)
HighScope certification an asset
First Aid certification
Social Development Check
Vulnerable Sector Check
Experience
Minimum of two (2) years experiences in Early Childhood or related required
Working with high risk and/or developmentally at risk children from two to five years of age an asset
Skills
Ability to communicate effectively, read, write and speak English
Able to manage crisis situations effectively
Mentor and supervise people from various backgrounds, levels of literacy, and learning styles
Ensure the use of effective communication with the team, colleagues, families, and the community
Flexible and adaptable to changing situations with organizational and effective planning abilities
