We are seeking a dedicated, passionate, and qualified Early Childhood Educator to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment for young children, fostering their social, emotional, and cognitive development. This role requires excellent communication skills, classroom management abilities, and a genuine love for working with children. The Early Childhood Educator will collaborate with colleagues, families, and specialists to ensure each child's individual growth is supported through innovative teaching methods and personalized attention.
This full-time role supports the holistic development of children ages 3 months to 5 years through responsive programming, inclusive practices, and strong family partnerships.
Responsibilities
Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, inclusive programming.
Use tools like Ages & Stages and Storypark to create rich learning stories and documentation that track and support children's developmental progress.
Facilitate engaging activities that promote social interaction, creativity, and learning.
Supervise meals in a relaxed, family-style setting and accommodate dietary needs.
Build strong relationships with families through daily communication and scheduled meetings.
Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate children with varying needs, ensuring inclusive education.
Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom/outdoor environment conducive to learning.
Utilize computer skills for record keeping, lesson planning, and communication with families and staff.
Collaborate with team members and mentor new staff or practicum students.
Demonstrate leadership in classroom management while fostering a positive atmosphere for children and colleagues.
Maintain accurate records using TimeSavr/Kinder Logix.
Follow all UCCCS policies, Alberta Child Care Licensing regulations, and health and safety protocols.
Experience
Prior experience working with children in educational or childcare settings is preferred
Knowledge of early childhood development principles and best practices in early childhood education
Experience working with children with diverse needs
Strong communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, and team members
Organizational skills for managing classroom activities, documentation, and time effectively
Working in a team
Experience with KinderLogix, Storypark, and ASQ Online
Demonstrated leadership abilities in managing classroom dynamics and guiding young learners
Qualifications
Alberta Child Care Certification (Level 2, or 3)
Valid Childcare First Aid with Level C CPR
Current Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
Alberta Intervention Record Check
Alberta Health and Safety for Child Care Providers (including Food Safety)
Physical Requirements
Lift/move 10-30 lbs
Frequent bending, kneeling, crawling, sitting on the floor, and outdoor activity
Exposure to smells, noise, bodily fluids, illness, and weather
