Scope



The City of Surrey is currently hiring Early Childhood Educators to provide flexible, as-needed support to Early Childhood programs across various locations city-wide.

The City of Surrey provides exciting opportunities and challenges in an active and energetic environment and is looking for enthusiastic Early Childhood Educator Lead substitutes. The City of Surrey follows a responsive curriculum and is committed to ensuring that every child in our program has a positive and safe experience. The Early Childhood Educator will be responsible for observing and documenting the children's play. The educator will also support individual child's learning styles, building a positive sense of self image and belonging.

Responsibilities



Provide a creative, enriched, responsive, play-based learning environment.

Be responsible for organizing and maintaining a stimulating environment that builds all areas of child development, including self-esteem, creative problem solving, collaboration, emergent literacy and numeracy.

Provide parent education, support, connections with schools, families and sharing community resources.

Develop activities that are important to the various stages of child development, including, art, literacy, fine/gross motor skills, and constructive play.

Be culturally sensitive, collaborative, resourceful and knowledgeable of community services in Surrey.

Qualifications



A valid License to Practice Early Childhood Educator (ECE) and holds an Early Childhood Educator Certificate.

Have 3 years related work experience in teaching.

Current First Aid Certificate and CPR C with AED.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Have experience with a responsive philosophy.

Have basic computer skills.

Valid BC Driver's license with safe driving record.

Conditions of Employment



This position requires completion of a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
