About the Role:

You will work one on one with a child diagnosed with non -verbal autism. You will be responsible for the day-to-day care of the child. And to cultivating positive relationships with the child, their family, and peers. This is a temporary contract position until June 30, 2026.

Responsibilities:

Consistently represent YMCA's values and mission Comply with all YMCA Policies, procedures and Provincial Licensing regulations Assist with self care , toileting and hand washing Assist child with problem solving and communication Helping child with self regulation skill development; assisting child to de-escalate Assist child with peer relationships Assist child learn to communicate with peers and teachers Promote healthy child development through positive interactions Encourage and support child to take part in activities Work with the family and other supporting professionals to set goals in development Complete required documentation and administrative tasks as required Guide and redirect children in situations when conflicts arise using a variety of positive child guidance techniques Ensure children are accounted for at all times Treat all families respectfully, bearing in mind their values, culture and background Commitment to Health and Safety and Child Protection Policies and Procedures Consistently provide a safe and clean environment following all cleaning procedures Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Experience working with children Level 2 or 3 certification Standard or Child Care First Aid & CPR - C Able to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable sector check
