EarlyON Child and Family Centre Coordinator



1 - Full-Time, Permanent (35 hours per week)



Reporting To:

Manager, Community Wellness & Engagement Manager

Purpose:



The EarlyON Child and Family Centre (EarlyON CFC) at SCHC is a multi-site, multi-disciplinary team supporting the holistic health and wellness of young children (primarily ages 0-6, with knowledge of child development up to age 12 considered an asset) and their families. The coordinator will plan and implement programming based on the Social Determinants of Health and the needs of children and their families, using evidence-based practices in early learning, family and social engagement, and outreach. This position carries responsibility for prevention, early intervention, program development, and community outreach.

Key areas of responsibility:
EarlyON Child and Family Centre:

Plan, implement and evaluate all services of the EarlyON CFC including:

The School Readiness programs

The Resource Lending Library

The Drop-In Programs

Plan, co-ordinate and/or facilitate targeted Parent/Caregiver Workshops.

Develop monthly calendars, flyers and other outreach material.

Coordinate and book trips as part of the delivery program.

Fill in for team members during absences.

Partnership and Community Engagement:

Work in partnership with SCHC internal services and with external community agencies to provide referrals and specialized programming

Represent SCHC, EarlyON Child and Family Centre on internal and external committees and networks

Conduct outreach to promote programs and services

Program Monitoring and Administration:

Monitor program trends and identify opportunities for new initiatives.

Collect and report data in line with funder and organizational requirements, e.g.: personal attendance records, program attendance records and collecting statistics.

Maintain program petty cash, vouchers, and related financials in collaboration with program manager.

Ensure program delivery adheres to IPAC standards and SCHC policies.

General Responsibilities:

Perform other reasonable duties as assigned within the scope of the role.

Facilitate one on one meetings with caregivers and families seeking navigational support for early year's services in the community.

Seek out additional funding opportunities.

Cleaning and sanitizing of the physical environment according to SCHC's environmental cleaning policy including; toys/equipment, moving furniture, vacuuming, cleaning floors, washroom duty, etc.

Scope and Accountability:

The EarlyON Child and Family Centre Coordinator works within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure that programming reflects all EarlyON program standards as outlined by the City of Toronto, Children's Services and ensures that programs are guided by Ontario's pedagogical framework How Does Learning Happen (2014).

Educational and/or Professional Qualifications:

Early Childhood Education diploma/degree from an accredited institution.

Registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators.

First Aid & CPR Level C certification.

Food Handler's Certification.

Mental Health First Aid training (asset).

Level of Experience:

Minimum of three years experience in a family support, EarlyOn, or child care setting.

Experience supporting and guiding staff, students, and volunteers in program delivery.

Experience in program development, implementation and evaluation.

Skills and Attributes:

Awareness of cultural, racial and social-economic diversity within the community.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

Excellent group facilitation and presentation skills.

Excellent problem-solving, decision making and leadership skills.

Experience in program development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

Experience with community engagement and development.

Strong knowledge of federal, provincial and municipal legislation affecting child-care centres and family support programs.

Basic understanding of typical child development sequences.

Thorough understanding of the ELECT (2007) and HDLH (2014) document.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively on a team.

Proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications (Microsoft Office Suite)

Oral and/or written fluency in other languages relevant to the community the program serves is a definite asset.

Current certification in Safe Food Handling or willingness to become certified.

Current certification in CPR/ First Aid or willingness to become certified.

Strong knowledge of child development (0-6 focus; 0-12 an asset).

Ability to facilitate online programming (Zoom or similar platforms).

Significant Working Conditions:

Working in TCHC buildings after hours.

Willingness to work between multiple sites.

Ability to transport including lifting/carrying/pulling up to 25 lbs. of equipment/supplies between multiple sites.

Ability to lift/carry young children when necessary.

Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends as required for family engagement programs.

Valid Driver's License to drive in Ontario and access to a vehicle.

Subject to a Police Reference Check, including vulnerable sector.

Remuneration

: $29.66 - $34.63
