JOB SUMMARY Reporting to and under the general direction of the Senior Educator, the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Coordinator is responsible for providing direct supervision and developmentally appropriate programming to the children of the Sahhaltkum Daycare Center. The Early Childhood Educator supports the Centres Early Childhood Education program and policies and works to contribute to the provision of excellence in child care. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Professionalism \xc2\xb7 Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Adams Lake Indian Band and Sahhaltkum Daycare policies and procedures; \xc2\xb7 Ensures compliance with standards of health and safety and in accordance with policies and regulations of British Columbia Day Care Licensing; \xc2\xb7 Consults with the Senior Educator in areas of concern for the program, children, and families and completes paperwork required from external agencies; \xc2\xb7 Presents a professional appearance and attitude; \xc2\xb7 Attends Volunteer Events to support Sahhaltkum Daycare as required; \xc2\xb7 Positively represents Adams Lake Indian Band and Sahhaltkum Daycare in the community; Secwepemc Cultural Programming \xc2\xb7 Ensures the involvement of Secwepemc Elders in programming to share their knowledge of the natural world and aboriginal traditions; \xc2\xb7 Improves the children\xe2\x80\x99s knowledge of Secwepemc language through the use of stories, songs and activities; \xc2\xb7 Weaves Secwepemc culture and language throughout the Centre by the use of First Nations materials, posters, toys and equipment; \xc2\xb7 Introduces children to First Nations food and food gathering knowledge; \xc2\xb7 Works with Families to encourage participation and sharing of cultural knowledge; General Programming \xc2\xb7 Establishes and maintains an environment that is conducive to the total development of each child that is safe, attractive and inclusive of all children; \xc2\xb7 Plans, implements and assesses a weekly program of developmentally appropriate activities; \xc2\xb7 Monitors the developmental and behavioural needs of individual children; \xc2\xb7 Provides direct supervision and appropriate personal care for children; \xc2\xb7 Ensures the establishment of daily routines both indoors and outdoors that provide a respectful rhythm to each day; \xc2\xb7 Ensures the necessary supplies and equipment are prepared and ready each day; \xc2\xb7 Records the attendance daily, ensuring that parents sign in on arrival and out on departure; \xc2\xb7 Ensures proper procedures are followed in administering medications and first aid, including documentation and records; \xc2\xb7 Performs housekeeping duties, including disinfecting and cleaning toys, mats, gates, equipment, kitchen, floors, laundry daily/weekly; BONAFIDE OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Early Childhood Educator Diploma
• Current Government of British Columbia Early Childhood Educator Certificate
• Current and Acceptable Criminal Record Check
• Current and Acceptable First Aid Certificate
