Responsibilities

Provide high-quality care and engaging learning experiences for children aged 12 months to 5 years Create and implement age-appropriate curricula and activities that stimulate learning and development Foster a nurturing and safe environment where children feel valued and supported Collaborate with parents, colleagues, and supervisors to meet each child's individual needs Ensure all activities align with Alberta childcare regulations and WRCKC standards Assist in outdoor activities, arts and crafts, and daily routines Maintain supervision ratios and adhere to safety procedures
Expanded Responsibilities of an Early Childhood Educator (ECE)

Creating a Safe and Nurturing Environment Ensure vigilant supervision at all times Follow health, safety, and sanitization guidelines Organize an inviting learning space that promotes exploration Supporting Child Development Plan activities that stimulate cognitive, language, physical, and social-emotional growth Cater to individual learning needs, including those with special needs Planning and Implementing Curriculum Design a well-rounded, play-based curriculum that prepares children for kindergarten Lead structured routines and thematic learning experiences Behavioral Guidance Use positive behavior management techniques and support conflict resolution Observation and Assessment Conduct regular observations and document each child's progress Communicate development updates with parents Communication with Parents and Colleagues Provide daily updates and participate in parent-teacher conferences Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a cohesive learning environment Adhering to Alberta Childcare Regulations Ensure compliance with licensing standards Maintain accurate records and stay current with mandatory certifications Health, Nutrition, and Well-being Promote healthy habits and proper nutrition Respond to medical emergencies and administer first aid as needed Cultural Sensitivity and Inclusivity Create an inclusive environment that respects diverse backgrounds and cultures Incorporate multicultural activities into the curriculum Professional Development and Continuous Improvement Stay updated on best practices through ongoing education Mentor newer staff, sharing best practices Organizational Responsibilities Prepare materials and complete paperwork to ensure smooth daily operations Utilize communication tools to keep parents informed
Who You Are

Kind, genuinely caring, patient, and understanding with a child-like spirit Passionate about working with young children and inspiring creativity Positive role model with excellent communication skills Knowledgeable about Alberta childcare regulations and eager to grow professionally First Aid/CPR Certified (or willing to obtain) Early Childhood Education (ECE) certified or actively pursuing certification
Qualifications

ECE Certification (Level 1, 2, or 3 in Alberta) First Aid/CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain) Clear Police Background and Vulnerable Sector Check Experience with children aged 12 months to 6 years in licensed childcare Knowledge of Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulations and WRCKC standards Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate practices Experience with children of diverse abilities Proficiency in positive behavior management techniques Familiarity with play-based learning and early language acquisition
