Overview


We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Teacher to join our educational team. This role is essential in fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children, promoting their social, emotional, and cognitive development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and a commitment to creating inclusive learning experiences for all children, including those with disabilities.

Responsibilities



Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of children in the classroom. Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning. Monitor and assess children's progress, providing feedback to parents and guardians regarding their development. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance educational programs and share best practices. Maintain organized classroom materials and resources to support effective teaching. Utilize computer operation skills to manage classroom documentation and communication effectively. Demonstrate leadership qualities by guiding teaching assistants and volunteers in classroom activities. Foster positive relationships with children, families, and the community to support holistic child development.

Experience & Training Requirements



5 year ECE, ECE I/T or ECE SN certificate (ECEAs will NOT be considered) Clean criminal record check Valid Emergency Childcare First Aid (or higher) Minimum 2 years working as a full ECE in a licensed group facility in BC, preference given to those with previous leadership experience Valid current food safe certificate Preference given to those with behaviour intervention or special needs training Understand and be familiar with the ECE Competency Grid, Childcare Licensing Regulations and the Community Care and Assisted Living Act

Position Requirements



Able to work any shift from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm Shifts are 8 to 9 hours with a 1 hour unpaid break (7 to 8 paid hours) depending on program / centre needs

Physical / Environment Requirements



Prolonged periods of standing Sitting in child-sized chairs or on the floor Frequent bending Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time Will be exposed to illness-causing bacteria and viruses

Compensation



$22.00 per hour plus wage enhancement
