We are seeking a passionate, dedicated and resilient Early Childhood Educator with their Special Needs credentials to join our team as a one to one worker. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing and stimulating environment for one child, fostering their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. This role involves implementing detailed care plans and implementing age-appropriate strategies that promote learning through play while ensuring the safety and well-being of all children.
Responsibilities
Help develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with early childhood education standards in supporting children with exceptional needs.
Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and creativity.
Monitor and assess the child's progress, providing feedback to staff, external support and parents/guardians on their development.
Collaborate with other educators and staff to create a cohesive learning experience for children.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom space conducive to learning.
Communicate effectively with fellow staff and parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns that may arise.
Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of early childhood education best practices.
Requirements
Valid Early Childhood Education Certificate with Special Needs Certification
First Aid Certification
Knowledge of resources such as PECS and following care plans to achieve goals and positive outcomes.
Strong understanding of child development principles, early childhood education practices and the BC Early Learning Framework.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with children with exceptional needs and build relationships, parents, and colleagues.
Patience
, creativity, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative in individual responsibilities.
