Job Overview
Due to the growth and expansion of our daycare we are seeking passionate Early Childhood Assistants to join our team and contribute to the development and education of young children. This role involves creating a nurturing and stimulating environment to facilitate children's growth and learning.
As an Early Childcare Assistant, you will be responsible for:
Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts.
Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
The constant supervision, safety, and well-being in a classroom of a set number of students
Assisting children in their daily routines (lunches/nap time/recess/washroom routines) under supervision of RECE's aimed at enhancing the children's cognitive, physical, social and emotional development.
Responding with sensitivity to the needs of individual children and their families, respecting diversities in age, sex, developmental level, religion, sexual orientation, and cultural background.
Releasing/accepting kids from the daycare
Ensuring children are dressed appropriately for indoor and outdoor activities.
Participating in the daily health check of children; records illness if applicable.
Completing regular attendance checks (along with RECE) indoors, outdoors and on trips.
Always knowing the number of children and noting headcounts on attendance verification at transitions.
Always remaining professional. This includes, but is not limited to, refraining from gossiping about parents, children or other staff; limiting socializing when you are on duty; limiting personal phone calls; and respecting personal boundaries.
Education and Experience
ECA diploma/certificate or equivalent or 1 year experience working with children
Required Skills and Qualifications
18 years or older.
Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
Up to date immunizations as per Public Health.
Standard First Aid with Child/Infant CPR.
Ability to converse with peers/parents in a respectful, diplomatic and non-judgmental manner.
Excellent skills in; written & verbal communication, patience, problem-solving, coaching, leading, and motivating children.
Fundamental knowledge of the CCEYA, Child and Family Services Act and Children's Services AQI, HDLH & Ontario Pedagogy with the ability to meet the specifications of these acts and any other related regulations that apply to this work.
Flexible, punctual, responsible and approachable.
Ability to communicate in English fluently & effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to work in a team and as an individual.
