We are currently recruiting for a Welder to join our shop team in Edmonton, AB. This person would lay out, position, fabricate, repair and secure mechanical parts to specifications. This position also requires some travel for repair work throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories using the company\'s welding/fabricating truck to repair equipment and reduce or eliminate equipment down time at our various Asphalt Plants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to read and work from shop/production drawings, blueprints, and welding process specification.
  • Ability to read and understand welding symbol to product a sound, clean and quality weld.
  • Fit and prepare jigs for welding components.
  • Operate brazing and soldering equipment.
  • Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines.
  • Safely operate manual and/or semi-automatic flame cutting equipment.
  • Must ensure a solid understanding of and comply with the principles of the company\'s Code of Ethics.
  • Must examine situations considering the principles of a Code of Ethics.
  • Perform duties safely around mobile equipment and have a high sense of safety awareness while performing work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education, Training and Certification
  • Provincial Journeyperson OR Red Seal Journeyperson Welding Ticket an asset.
  • 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Year Apprentice Welder required
Work Experience
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in road construction an asset.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Welder an asset.
Technical Skills
  • Understanding of welding techniques, ideally in a fabrication setting and/or on an asphalt plant site.
  • Knowledge of road paving construction methods and road construction materials.

Working Conditions
  • Out of town travel throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories using company welding truck as required and may consist of remote locations, accommodations and Live Out Allowance may be applicable.
  • We offer a condensed work week during the winter months (four-day schedule, 10 hours per day) with a busy summer schedule and overtime as required
  • Use of personal protection equipment is required.
  • Must comply with the company\'s drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements.
  • Must comply with all company policies.
  • Must be able to work respecting safety policies and procedures.
  • Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
