Position Summary



We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced

Payroll Administrator

to support full-cycle payroll operations for a multi-provincial workforce. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of multiple payrolls, including unionized employees, while ensuring compliance with all applicable Canadian payroll legislation. The successful candidate will bring strong technical payroll knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and a collaborative mindset to support employees and the broader payroll team.


This position can be located at any of our offices in Calgary, Red Deer or Edmonton stations.

Key Responsibilities



Process full-cycle payroll for approximately 400+ employees on weekly and bi-weekly hourly schedules, including unionized payrolls. Enter, audit, and maintain employee payroll data, ensuring all changes are properly authorized and processed accurately and on time. Import, review, and audit hourly time, system time entries, and timecard corrections prior to posting. Review payroll deductions for accuracy and ensure statutory and third-party remittances are made as scheduled. Process and remit garnishments and other third-party deductions, including CRA remittances. Reconcile payroll-related accounts and third-party reports. Issue Records of Employment (ROEs) as required. Support year-end payroll processing, reconciliations, and reporting. Administer employee benefits and respond to payroll- and benefits-related inquiries from employees. Support the payroll team with additional payroll runs, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll legislation, including WCB requirements across all provinces. Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Payroll Manager.

Required Qualifications



PCP designation

required

; PLP in progress or completed is considered an asset. 3-5+ years of full-cycle, multi-provincial Canadian payroll experience, including unionized environments. Demonstrated experience with year-end payroll processing, audits, reconciliations, and ROEs. Strong working knowledge of ADP Workforce Now; experience with at least one additional enterprise payroll or HCM system is an asset. Solid understanding of Canadian payroll legislation, statutory deductions, and taxable benefits. Experience supporting benefits administration, reconciliations, and interpreting related legislation. Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality. Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and contribute to payroll process improvements.
