We are looking for a dedicated Developmental Support Worker (DSW) or Social Service Worker to join our team and work in one of our Care Home facilities in the Pickering Area. The ideal candidate will have experience in patient care and possess the necessary skills to provide essential support to individuals in need.
Responsibilities:
Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
Provide compassionate care and support to individuals with developmental, behavioral, or emotional needs.
Support clients with mental health and behavioral challenges under supervision.
Promote independence and social inclusion in a safe and respectful environment.
Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes.
Ensure all services follow professional, ethical, and confidentiality standards.
Skills:
Minimum of 1-2 Years of experience supporting children or youth in a residential or community care setting.
Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and child development.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective client interaction
Valid G Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
Cultural awareness and sensitivity to diverse communities.
Knowledge of
CYFSA
and
O. Reg. 156/18.
Knowledge of home care procedures and best practices for patient support
COMPLETE DOCUMENTS/CERTIFICATIONS:
Diploma or Degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Service Work, Psychology, Developmental Service Worker, or related field.
Vulnerable Screening Check (6 months valid)
Child Welfare Record Check
First Aid/CPR Certificate
Mask Fit Test
COVID 19 vaccination record
Immunization records
TB Clearance
Mental Health First Aid and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) or equivalent (required or willingness to obtain)* CPI, UMAB, or Safe Management Certification
