What you bring as a Drywaller/Painter
Experience working in construction environments with tools and the skills to use them
Strong people and communication skills
Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do
A safety mindset
Valid driver's licence and a clean criminal record (we do check)
Ability to communicate in English
What you're responsible for...
A drywaller is skilled in the following ways:
Measuring, cutting and installing drywall sheets
Tear out old or damaged drywall
Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners
Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks using trowel and broad knife
Tape and embed joints
Texturing of all types
Site preparation and protection
A painter is skilled in the following ways:
Estimate the quantity of materials required by measuring surfaces, reviewing scopes, sketches and work orders
Remove old coatings by stripping with solvents, heat, sanding, wire brushing, or water and abrasive blasting
Prepare surfaces for covering by cleaning, filling nail holes and cracks, and sanding rough spots
Apply an undercoat primer or sealer before painting, or apply sizing before wallpapering
Match specified colours by using premixed paints, or mixing colour and thinning and drying additives
Use brushes, rollers or spray guns to apply liquid coatings such as paint, stain or varnish to surfaces of wood, metal, brick, concrete, plaster, stucco or stone
Apply finishes that are sponged, ragged and layered
Apply paper, vinyl or natural and synthetic fabric wallcoverings

With painting, have you applied finishes that are feathered, sponged, ragged and layered? Please describe:
Do you have your own transportation? Before a fleet vehicle will be assigned, we offer a temporary vehicle allowance. Do you have a truck or a car to use for work?
Restoration work requires documentation and tracking throughout your workday. Are you comfortable operating a phone to navigate through applications and record info as required?
Are you able to work a Rotating On-Call Schedule (Responding to emergency calls after business hours)? This is additional to scheduled daytime hours as per the schedule. Premium and overtime is paid.
Are you proficient with drywall hanging, taping, mudding, sanding and finishing?
Cross training is required for this role. Successful candidates will be trained in Emergency, Demolition and Water Damage. Are you able and willing to train and work in other roles?
Experience:
Drywalling and Drywall Repair: 3 years (preferred)
Brush and Roller Painting: 1 year (preferred)
In-home Renovations: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
Canadian Driver's License (required)
