Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Taper to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying finishing coats to walls, ceilings, and other surfaces, ensuring a smooth and professional appearance. This role requires a strong understanding of construction painting techniques, blueprint reading, and general carpentry skills. The Taper will work closely with project managers and other trades to deliver high-quality results on time and within scope. Prior maintenance person experience and knowledge of caulking are highly valued to support various aspects of the finishing process.

Responsibilities

Apply joint compound (mud) to walls, ceilings, and other surfaces using trowels, knives, or spray equipment Sand and smooth finished surfaces to prepare for painting or additional finishing work Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or technical drawings to ensure accurate application of materials Perform caulking around seams, joints, and fixtures to ensure airtight and watertight finishes Coordinate with carpenters and other trades to ensure proper surface preparation before taping and finishing Maintain cleanliness of work area and tools throughout the project lifecycle Assist with minor carpentry tasks as needed to support surface preparation and finishing processes Follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times during the project

Experience

Proven experience in construction painting or drywall taping is required Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety standards Carpentry skills or maintenance person experience are preferred for supporting various tasks on-site Ability to read blueprints or technical drawings accurately Familiarity with caulking techniques and finishing tools is a plus Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship

Pay: $17.00-$30.00 per hour
