Job Description

We are seeking an experienced

Drupal Architect and Developer

to design, implement, and optimize

Drupal (V 9/10/11)

solutions hosted within a

Microsoft Azure

environment. This position requires both technical leadership and hands-on development expertise to deliver scalable, secure, and accessible digital solutions for government and enterprise clients.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with

Azure infrastructure, DevOps pipelines, and modern Drupal architecture

, and will work closely with designers, content specialists, and business analysts to build reliable, high-performing digital experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the

architecture, design, and implementation

of Drupal solutions within

Azure-hosted environments

. Develop and maintain

Drupal modules, themes, and integrations

using PHP, Twig, and JavaScript. Architect

content structures

,

views

, and

custom workflows

, ensuring alignment with business and accessibility requirements. Design and manage

CI/CD pipelines

in

Azure DevOps

, including automated testing, deployment, and release management. Integrate Drupal with

Azure services

(e.g., Azure SQL Database, Blob Storage, Application Insights, Active Directory / Entra ID). Collaborate with security and infrastructure teams to ensure

governance, monitoring, and compliance

with organizational standards. Support

migration efforts

from legacy CMS platforms and optimize existing Drupal installations for performance and scalability. Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and code reviews for development teams. Contribute to

DevOps best practices

infrastructure-as-code (IaC)

cloud resource optimization

Qualifications

Required:

5+ years of experience in

Drupal (8/9/10)

development and architecture. Strong experience deploying Drupal on

Microsoft Azure

, including

App Services

,

Azure SQL

, and

Storage Accounts

. Proficiency with

Azure DevOps

,

Git

,

Composer

, and

Drush

. Hands-on experience with

PHP

,

Twig

,

HTML5

,

CSS3

,

JavaScript

, and

RESTful APIs

. Experience implementing

CI/CD workflows

for Drupal projects using

Azure DevOps Pipelines

or equivalent. Understanding of

security, accessibility (WCAG 2.1)

best practices. Familiarity with

Government of Canada Web Experience Toolkit (WxT)

or similar frameworks.

Preferred:

Experience with

headless/decoupled Drupal

(React, Angular, or Vue integrations). Experience with

Azure Active Directory / Entra ID

. Familiarity with

, or other containerization technologies. Knowledge of

infrastructure-as-code

Education

Pay: $50.00-$100.00 per hour
