Career Opportunity and Primary Roles / Responsibilities




As a

Drone System Engineer - Avionics Platform,

you will be responsible for the design, integration and testing of various systems within an autonomous drone, ensuring that these systems meet safety, performance, and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including safety, software and hardware engineers, to ensure optimal system functionality and integration. This role involves both the development of new systems and the continuous improvement of existing systems, with a focus on innovation, reliability, and efficiency.

Responsibilities:



Develop specifications for an avionics platform consisting of hardware and software elements used to host and execute the avionics functions on an autonomous drone following processes and procedures meeting the objectives of ARP4754 Define a verification strategy and develop and execute a requirements based test campaign following processes and procedures meeting the objectives of ARP4754 Occasional travel to Customer facilities in Western United States for test execution in avionics integration lab Collaborate with multidisciplinary team including estimating, planning and reporting of activities, status and roadblocks Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.

Required Competencies



Experience with Aircraft Systems and Sub-Systems development following guidance of ARP4754 including validation and verification of an integrated system Experience developing sub-system technical specifications including complex hardware and software components Experience with Aircraft electrical systems and power distribution, battery management systems and electrical power generation Experience with Python or similar scripting languages Minimum 10 years experience in aerospace systems and sub-systems domain

Preferred Competencies:



Proficiency in systems modeling and analysis tools (MATLAB, Simulink, or similar). Knowledge of avionics systems, including communications, navigation, and flight control systems. Knowledge and experience with the application of reliability, maintainability and safety principles following the guidance of ARP4761 including SFHA, SSA, FMEA, CMA and their impact on design and architecture Experience with requirements and data management tools Experience with preparation and review of certification life cycle data Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field. Familiarity with the latest trends and technologies in aerospace engineering, such as electric aircraft, autonomous systems, and AI integration.

Miscellaneous Requirements



Work can be done remotely. For employees based in Montreal, the work model is hybrid (at least one day at the office). The position might require travel to visit customers (in North America)
Knowledge of English is required to communicate and work with customers outside the province of Quebec. / La connaissance de l'anglais est requise pour communiquer et travailler avec nos clients situes a l'exterieur de la province de Quebec.
