Location: Halifax (Mount Uniacke), Nova Scotia



Salary: $55,000 - $75,000 (based on experience)

POSITION SUMMARY





We are hiring a detail-oriented

Drone Data Processing Technician (LiDAR & Visual)

to support our growing unmanned aerial systems (UAS) operations. This role is responsible for transforming raw LiDAR and visual data captured by our drone and terrestrial platforms into accurate, high-quality deliverables that support engineering, mapping, inspection, and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate has a strong geospatial background, thrives on data precision, and is comfortable working with advanced data processing software and workflows.




Key Responsibilities




Import, clean, and calibrate LiDAR and other datasets collected from aerial and ground-based missions. Process and classify point clouds, generate DEMs/DTMs/contours, extracting features with high accuracy. Convert raw LiDAR data into CAD formats (e.g., DWG, DXF, Civil 3D) Perform georeferencing, coordinate transformations, and error analysis. Validate and cross-check LiDAR outputs against control points, GNSS/RTK data, and ground surveys. Ensure accuracy, quality control, and consistency of data products. Manage large datasets and maintain organized digital workflows. Create 3D visualizations. Generate orthomosaics and integrate LiDAR with photogrammetry when required. Package data products for clients in formats compatible with engineering, GIS, and CAD workflows.



Collaboration & Reporting




Work closely with flight crews, project managers, and clients to ensure deliverables meet specifications. Document data processing workflows and maintain version control of projects. Contribute to internal best practices for LiDAR QA/QC and workflow efficiency.



Qualifications




3+ years of hands-on experience with LiDAR and visual data processing and geospatial software. Proficiency with tools such as

Leica Cyclone Suite, Nubigon, DJI Terra, Civil 3D, Reality Capture, RiProcess, Phoenix LiDAR, TerraScan, Global Mapper, or similar platforms

. Strong understanding of GNSS/RTK corrections and coordinate systems. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and survey requirements. High attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet tight deadlines. Ability to rapidly learn new skills, continuously improve methods of processing, and seek greater efficiency in delivering the best possible product to our clients.



Preferred Skills




Diploma or degree in Geomatics, Surveying, Remote Sensing, GIS, or related field. Experience integrating LiDAR with photogrammetry, thermal, or multispectral datasets. Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation) and GIS platforms (ArcGIS, QGIS). Prior work with drones, terrestrial or manned airborne LiDAR systems is an asset.
