The results of this process will be used to fill 2 permanent vacancies and one temporary vacancy within the Waterton Lakes Field Unit and may be used in the future to fill permanent or temporary vacancies that may arise, in various locations, with full or part-time hours, for various tenures, such as: Seasonal Indeterminate, Term, Acting Assignment or Assignment at level, depending on status of the selected candidate.

EDUCATION


High school diploma or recognized equivalent, as well as training in a field related to the duties of the position.


Degree equivalency


EXPERIENCE

Experience in the operation and maintenance of various light, medium, heavy duty, and commercial equipment including, but not limited to, mini excavators, backhoes, wheel loaders, agricultural tractors equipped with mowers or blowers, dump trucks and salt spreaders Experience in operating various large, heavy diesel and gasoline-powered tracked and tired vehicles and equipment such as: grader, bulldozer, speed plows, loaders, backhoe, street sweeper, man lift, or similar

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of safe work practices on work sites Knowledge of safety measures and safety regulations common to highway maintenance Knowledge of operations of a variety of heavy equipment and small equipment Knowledge of basic computer skills is required for this position - including the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
ABILITIES

Ability to understand and apply work instructions Ability to operate heavy equipment competently and in compliance with safety instructions Ability to visually inspect equipment and perform pre & post trip maintenance Ability to work effectively in a continuously changing environment Ability to lift and carry up to 25kg (55lbs)

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment; Take, and comply with, mandatory Parks Canada training Work irregular hours, overtime, weekends, statutory holidays, and provincial/territorial holidays as required. Work and travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation.

Obtain and maintain Reliability Status; Possession and maintenance of a valid Class 3 license with air brake endorsement Will be required to undergo and pass pre-placement and periodic medical evaluation as outlined in Parks Canada Occupational Health Monitoring Program.
