Position Summary
We are currently looking for a highly motivated Driver/Forklift Operator. Drivers are responsible for the safe operation of a commercial vehicle in the transportation and placements of building materials on customer job sites. Drivers must also assist with onsite delivery requiring physical labour in all weather conditions. The Forklift Operator prepares loads and unloads building materials in the warehouse through the safe operation of a lift truck. The shifts are Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm, and the wage range is $22-$27 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
Act as an ambassador of the company with all employees and customers.
Maintain an emphasis on a safety culture, customer service, and efficiency as top priorities.
Deliveries as dictated by the needs of the business.
Superior customer service while driving and delivering materials and products.
Perform safety pre-trip inspections on Slegg vehicles.
Loading and unloading of trucks.
Flexible work hours each day in order to complete necessary delivery orders.
General housekeeping duties, or various yard and warehouse tasks as required or directed by management.
Deliver materials to the satisfaction of customers and maintain an emphasis on safety, service, and efficiency.
Communicate with customers and other trades on construction sites.
Verify load security and accuracy.
Maintain contact with dispatch and work to resolve issues as they arise.
Prepare trucks for reloading and assist warehouse staff as needed.
Follow all regulations, company policies, and procedures.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Ensure lift truck maintenance and servicing requirements are met.
Build orders to required specifications for delivery.
Load and unload building materials in a safe and efficient manner.
Check load contents for accuracy and secure materials.
Basic Qualifications
Valid Class 5 driver's license with a minimum of two years of experience and a clean driver's abstract.
Valid forklift certification (propane).
Practical written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as a team.
Knowledge of basic mathematics.
Basic hand tool skills.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 100lbs.
Sitting and driving for long periods.
Frequently climbing up and downstairs.
Pulling, pushing, bending, and torso twisting movements to transfer building materials between truck and job site.
