Job Description

We are actively seeking candidates for night shift positions.

The Driver (Transfer Attendant) is responsible for the safe and efficient transfer of patients and students.

Transports patients/students to various locations as per dispatched calls and/or established school routes.

Monitor the health and general wellbeing of the patient/student during transportation to ensure patients/students are safe and comfortable.

Perform first aid and initiate CPR during emergency situations.

Assist and positions patients/students to and from the transport vehicles including ambulances, helicopters, airplanes. Patient/students may be walking or transported by the following equipment: wheelchairs (including bariatric), Broda Chairs, stretchers and car seats.

Handle medical equipment safely including oxygen tanks, IV pumps, poles, PCA pumps, catheters, etc. while transferring/transporting patients.

Timely transfer of patients/students to the destination(s), if required, remains with patients during appointments/schools.

Maintain a positive and professional relationship with patients and students.
Clean transportation vehicles before and after use by patients/students as per company infection control policy and procedures.

Ensure that transportation equipment (including vehicles, lifts, wheelchairs) are in good working conditions and notify the supervisor of any repairs or maintenance required.

Effective communication with dispatcher and management regarding status of patient transfers, issues/challenges with transfers or vehicles/equipment.

Always maintain the confidentiality of patients/students information at all times. The information includes client name, locations of service/transfer, client conditions, etc.

Always maintain the confidentiality of the business information. The business information may include list of contracts, business contacts, product/equipment information, etc.

Hours of Work

:

Weekdays and weekends - hours vary depending on transportation requirements of clients.

Shift duration can be from 8 to 12 per day, maximum of 40 hours per week.

May be required to work statutory holidays based on transportation requirements of clients.

Job Requirements:



Minimum Glass G driver's license

Must provide a clean vulnerable sector check from the local police service (e.g. Ottawa)

Must provide a current immunization record (including Tetanus, Diphtheria, Hepatitis B, Tuberculosis, Poliomyelitis, COVID)

Must provide Standard First Aid with CPR + AED for adults and children by Canadian Red Cross or equivalent.

Bilingualism is an asset.

Effective oral and written communication skills are essential.

Must be a compassionate and caring person.

Customer service driven.

A professional attitude under all circumstances.

Punctual and reliable.

Must wear employer supplied uniform and identification badge.

Working Conditions



Required to drive long distances in and out of the city of Ottawa, may include inter provincial (Quebec) or international travel (US) - up to 250 KM per shift Physically demanding work to mobilize/transfer patients in wheelchairs, stretchers, Broda Chairs and neonatal incubators, including patients that are bariatric (> 250 pounds). Emotionally demanding work transporting patients/students with a variety of physical and mental health concerns. May include working independently and or with another driver. Required to use their own personal cellular phone to communicate with the Angels Dispatcher, Drivers and Management
