Job Description

Your Opportunity:
Alberta Health Services has an employment opportunity for a casual Driver I. Casual drivers provide support to the regular driving base and are responsible for the timely delivery of medical supplies and orders to sites within the Greater Edmonton Region, as well as performing other driving related functions as directed by the Lead Transportation Edmonton and North zone. Candidates will operate cargo vans and single axle 1, 2 and 5 ton trucks. Due to the variance of shifts and hours of work, AHS casual drivers are most likely to succeed if they have exceptional flexibility to accept assignments on short notice and/or be able to work several days in a row with some periods on inactivity. This position is located at the Material Distribution Center in west Edmonton and is subject to shift work.
Description:
As a Driver I, you will transport a range of products including, but not limited to, mail, packages, medical supplies, equipment, food and linen, in accordance with AHS standards, regulations and policies. Working independently, you must adhere to scheduled routes, as well as ad hoc requests, in a safe and courteous manner. You will be expected to perform a series of routine duties such as logging mileage, cleaning vehicles, performing pre and post vehicle inspections and reporting defects and malfunctions to management.
