Job description



The engineering team is the creative force behind the successful Thrustmaster/Hercules product line. We are seeking a talented and motivated Windows Device Driver Developer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and maintaining software that enables seamless communication between hardware devices and the Windows operating system. The ideal candidate has a strong background in low-level Windows development and enjoys solving complex technical challenges. While prior experience with Windows devices drivers is a strong asset, we also welcome candidates with relevant low-level programming experience who are eager to grow in this specialized field.

Main responsibilities



Design, implement, test, and debug low-level software for Windows-based systems, ensuring compatibility, stability, and performance. Develop and maintain applications that interface with hardware components using Windows APIs and system internals. Build and maintain Windows kernel-mode drivers. Create and maintain test applications for device drivers. Document software designs, interfaces and unit tests as needed. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including firmware engineers and software developers. Diagnose and resolve issues related to software-hardware interactions using tools such as WinDbg, WPP tracing, traditional logging and crash dump analysis. Write clean, efficient and reliable code. Stay current with Windows development tools, technologies and best practices to improve development efficiency.

Desired profile



Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering or related technical field (or equivalent experience) 3 years of experience in low-level Windows application development using C, C++ or C#. A strong proficiency in C is required. Solid understanding of Windows OS internals, including memory management, threading and system APIs. Familiarity with system programming for Windows (Win32/Win64). Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills in Windows environments. Experience with hardware-software interfaces such as USB or other peripheral protocols. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Operating in an international environment, bilingualism in French and English is preferred.

Skills and experience



Experience developing Windows device drivers using frameworks such as Kernel-Mode Driver Framework (KMDF), and/or Windows Driver Kit (WDK). Hands-on experience with kernel-mode debugging tools like WinDbg. Experience using either crafted test applications, or scripts to validate firmware, driver and application end-to-end scenarios. Familiarity with low level I/O operations, thread synchronization, working with memory through Windows system APIs, and dynamic link libraries. Understanding of USB protocols and experience using USB protocol analyzers.
