We are currently hiring experienced Driller across Western Canada. BAT Construction has a proven record of providing skilled employees to provide high-quality results, all while focusing on safety. As a Driller, you'll be an integral part of field operations, responsible for geotechnical slope remediation, anchoring, scaling, mesh and rockfall systems, structural inspections, and related industries are an asset. In addition, you'll be part of a dynamic team that works on industrial and geotechnical projects, where you'll perform critical drilling operations using rope access techniques in diverse environments.

The ideal candidate will have strong civil construction experience. Applicants with a thorough understanding of heavy equipment operation, ground support, or heavy-duty mechanics may be given preference. Geotechnical or engineering education is considered an asset.

We are looking for individuals who are dependable, adaptable, capable and flexible of working in remote locations on rotational schedules.

Main Duties and Responsibilities



Verify location, angle, and depth of drill locations before drilling and confirm it is safe to move forward with the process. Perform daily and routine maintenance on equipment to ensure safety and functionality. Check gauges, monitor drilling condition and pay close attention to equipment to decide if it needs to be altered or adjusted during drilling. Complete drilling and anchor installation logs Ensure all drilling is being completed safely as per regulations, drawings, designs, and special provisions. Use knowledge of soil or rock conditions to determine which drilling equipment is appropriate for each job. Stop, start, and control machine drilling speed and align as well as position drills to stabilize machines. Regulate downward pressure, rotary speed, and air pressure, depending on the type of material the drill is moving through. Changing procedures and settings for each individual job as needed. Bore or drill holes in rock for grouting, anchoring, blasting, or building foundations, working with other members of the crew to ensure accuracy and safety. Follow all protocol and standard operating procedures to guarantee safety and compliance on the job site and keep team members safe from injury. Position and assemble casing pipes, augers, machines and other equipment with the appropriate hand and power tools. Cap and mark all open bore holes. Direct and train drilling swampers. Wear a respirator when and where required by safety protocols and job demands, ensuring a proper seal and fit at all times. Ensure Flexibility; BAT Construction has multiple project sites across Canada that operate at any given time (day or night) thus flexibility is required regarding work schedules, hours, rotations, shifts, and locations. Employees are expected to adapt to these changes as required by the company. Requirements



Strong understanding of techniques, tools, and equipment. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical stamina and strength for manual tasks and working at height. A commitment to safety protocols and a proactive approach to risk management. Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to job sites as required. First Aid certification and other relevant safety certifications are an asset. Previous 1-2 years of anchor drilling experience Strong mechanical and problem solving skills CSTS (completed before 2019) or Site Ready BC CSO Ground Disturbance WHMIS

Preferred Qualifications



Experience in ground support systems or geotechnical construction. Experience with hollow bar anchors is an asset. Oil Sands experience is an asset. Knowledge of safety regulations and legislation relevant to work at height and drilling operations.

12 hour shifts either 2 weeks on, 1 weeks off (day shifts) or 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off (night shifts)
