Almor Testing Services Ltd. (Almor) is a geotechnical and materials testing consultant, based in Calgary, Alberta. Almor provides geotechnical consulting and materials testing services to land developers, general contractors, municipalities, and other consultants. Projects include residential and commercial developments and civil infrastructure upgrades/improvements. Almor's role varies, but includes geotechnical assessments, consulting, and QA/QC testing of materials.
We are looking for a new team member to operate and manage our geotechnical drill rig operations.
Daily Activities:
Operation of a selection of drill rigs based on site/project specific needs. Drilling methods and functions, including solid/hollow stem augers with SPT and Shelby Tube sampling. Assisting our Engineers with planning and implementation of drilling programs.
Time not spent drilling will involve managing utility locates, site access and schedules.
Maintenance of equipment and material management to support drilling operations.
Responsibilities:
oMobilization and operation of drill equipment and or support vehicles
Train and supervise drill assistant and drill crew
Perform hazard assessments prior to drill operations
Perform and manage general maintenance to equipment including support vehicles
Maintain certifications (Ground Disturbance, First Aid, H2S among others)
Maintain ability to pass pre access medical/drug/alcohol/criminal screening
Record and maintain accurate work records (field, maintenance)
Employer Expectations:
5+ years of geotechnical drilling experience as a driller leading a crew
Experience with Diedrich and/or GeoProbe drilling equipment
Experience with solid/hollow stem auger, Air/mud rotary, and Odex systems
Experience with geotechnical sampling and soil classification
Maintain a valid Alberta Class 3 license with Q endorsement
Be available to work extended hours, weekends and out of town work
Ability to perform general maintenance of equipment
Able to perform physically demanding tasks such as heavy lifting/climbing, working on uneven ground, and rough terrain
Able to work in all weather conditions
Follow safety protocol and perform hazard assessments
