This position will begin as a draftsperson to allow the candidate to develop core skills and acclimate to industry. This position requires understanding of standard machining, assembly and installation practices with a strong foundation in Microvellum being an asset. That base understanding of the production process is a niche skill that ensures success in this vital role.
Core Responsibilities:
Read and interpret architectural drawings
Create and maintain assembly, part and purchased component drawings and 3D models for new and existing products
Create and maintain bills of material (BOMs), cut lists, installation instructions and CNC programs
Assist with product design and development in the pre-engineering stages, as required
Perform product cost estimating and analysis and cost reduction opportunities
Organize and maintain file management systems for CAD, CNC programs, spreadsheets and work processing documents/files.
Performing product updates and other engineering revisions
Support production personnel to ensure engineering information and revisions are effectively communicated to the shop floor and other required personnel
Assist in supporting shop floor for quality and manufacturing related problem solving
Requirements:
Graduate of 3-year Woodworking/Manufacturing technology/ Engineering program or equivalent
Computer skills required in Microvellum (or similar 3D modelling software), AutoCAD, CNC programming (BSolid and integrated CAM), Outlook, MS Word and Excel
Sound knowledge of various types of woodworking production equipment is preferred
Prior experience with wood, steel, foam, plastic, glass and upholstery components is an asset
