Cornerstone Building Brands Canada is seeking a highly motivated Drafting Manager to join our Engineering Team. OVERVIEW The primary responsibility for a Drafting Manager is to oversee complete and accurate detailing deliverables (drawings, shop details, BOMs, etc.) while maintaining high quality and on-time delivery in support of customer specific requirements. This role requires demonstrated leadership skills and strong technical knowledge of Metal Building products, detailing tools including AutoCAD, Tekla, and the ability to adapt to interdepartmental processes. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide leadership and technical direction to the production drafting team in the flawless execution of all drafting aspects of Commercial Metal Buildings projects using our highly specialized software such as Tekla and AutoCAD. This includes the delineation of work orders and planned labor hours, project schedule, and related internal and external customer documents and change orders.
• Work with the Project Execution team to build and maintain drafting work load/capacity planning to facilitate the allocation of resources of appropriate kind and adequate number across different offices to support projects execution
• Provide accurate, easy-to-follow detailing or guidance that meet code requirements, manufacturing constraints and system deadlines that result in low-cost, easy to erect building systems that meet the customer\xe2\x80\x99s needs and company procedures.
• Communicate needs and difficulties to Project Engineers, Design Engineers, and Detailers to assure quick disposition of technical challenges
• Support and maintain drafting practices used by production detailers
• Expedite 3rd party detailers turnaround of shop drawing submittals for fabrication.
• Train and mentor Drafters
• Review drawing submittals from detailers (checking), and provides feedback and corrections to detailer prior to submittal to customer, when required
• Monitor progress toward completion dates
• Enforce conformance with defined Engineering processes and ensure that corrective actions are completed as required. Ensure compliance with quality standards
• Ensure that the Management of Change process (MOC) is followed and execute MOCs as required.
• Manages the human resource functions of assigned team including, performance appraisals, engaging employees in process improvement initiatives and coaching and counseling team. Recommends hiring, firing and salary and job change actions.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

• Experience in industrials, manufacturing, and/or building products
• Experience using Tekla, AutoCAD, Revit, Trimble Connect and other detailing software
• Experience checking Tekla drawings and BOMs
• AutoCAD experience
• Detail oriented
• Ability to adapt to an environment and work well with other
• Ability to learn document flow and follow detailed instructions
• Ability to influence leadership to adopt new ideas, products, and/or approaches
• Ability to perform under pressure and lead multiple initiatives simultaneously
• Good level of understanding of technology, digital solutions, & model base engineering
• Strong process improvement background.
• Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization
• Strong people management, performance management, and knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and engineering management
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi tasks
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Skilled in writing and presenting to senior management
• Strong PC, Microsoft Office, and general technology competency

EDUCATION/ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma. Associate of Applied Science degree preferred
• Minimum of 10 years metal building drafting experience or related field
• Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated leadership experience
