The Position:
We're looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Drafter to join our team. This role will be responsible for design and drafting tasks within our team. The drafter will create detailed drawings and specifications for the production of pipes and tanks. This role will also help streamline the drafting processes and ensure engineering R&D goals are met. What You Will Do:
Drafting (30%-50%): Create detailed drawings for FRP pipes, tanks, products.
Drafting Automation: Automate the SolidWorks drafting process by leveraging VBA macros and DriveWorks configurations to improve efficiency and consistency.
Technical Specifications: Generate, modify, and publish technical specifications for production
Reviewing, checking and assisting in the development of models and shop drawings in coordination with engineering team
Analyze designs and systems for compliance to applicable standards (i.e. OSHA, CSA or customer specific)
Engineering R&D Support: improve drafting efficiency through automation and creating libraries, improve specification generation through automation and process improvement
Contribute to other Engineering R&D goals, including streamline improvements and decrease in task duration
What You Bring:
Skilled in 3D modeling and detailed technical drafting using SolidWorks
Experienced in developing VBA macros within SolidWorks to automate and streamline workflows
Familiarity with DriveWorks configuration for rule-based design automation (considered an asset, not mandatory)
Experience with AutoCAD, PDM systems, and Mathcad (considered an asset, not mandatory)
Strong critical thinking and analytical problem-solving abilities
Open-minded, with a keen eye for identifying process and efficiency improvements
Proficient in performing fundamental engineering calculations
Adaptable collaborator, able to work independently or integrate seamlessly into a multidisciplinary team
Resourceful problem-solver, adept at researching and implementing solutions to complex technical questions
