Job Description

SUMMARY:

This position is funded through (see more details below). This position reports to the Engagement and Mobilization (Communications) Manager and supports the live events, festivals and annual members' screening hosted by DARC.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



? Support DARC by attending live events and screenings, capturing assets and collateral for social media, website, etc., especially concerning our annual member screening, RESOLUTION.

? Create, maintain and execute elements to support the centre's marketing and communications plan across all platforms including social media, website (blog) and podcast.

? Bring creative concepts and ideas to meetings and supporting the team by pro-actively implementing notes and changes.

? Assist in preparing newsletters, press releases, social media posts and other communications as needed.

? Change priorities and communicate hurdles or challenges as they arise.

? Working on special projects with co-op students or interns for content creation, marketing or social media outreach.

? Support or work in conjunction with DARC staff to support DARC's annual screening, RESOLUTION, as needed.

? Other on-site event support during live events as needed.

? Work with student placement, partners and as needed.

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:



? Proficient with Google Business Suite and design skills such as Canva

? A people person who is positive, responsible, respectful, and enthusiastic;

? Well-organized, works well under pressure and independently if needed, takes on projects simultaneously and autonomously;

? Ability to answer questions via email and phone from members, media and partners;

? Knowledge of implementing social media/content plans;

? Passionate about Ottawa's media arts and film community an asset.

Additional Qualifications Required:



Candidate eligibility for JCP is determined according to the following criteria:

1. An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week.

2. A permanent resident living in Ontario who is legally authorized to work in Canada.

3. Meet at least 1 of the following criteria:

a. Has an established Employment Insurance (EI) benefit period.

b. Previously established an EI benefit period that has ended within the previous 60 months.

c. Paid employee EI premiums (e.g. Box 18 on the T4) in at least 3 of the last 10 years while earnings have been at least $2000 in each of those years.

NOTE:

Persons currently enrolled in full-time academic studies are not eligible for consideration. Those who qualify to establish an Employment Insurance (EI) claim must do so prior to being considered for JCP participation.

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $21.50 per hour

Expected hours: 32 per week

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Ottawa, ON K1N 6E2
