Reporting to the Foreman, the Excavator / Dozer Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of an excavator and dozer. This role can involve the use of both excavators and dozers for various tasks, including piling aggregates, transporting materials, excavating utilities or new installations, and tamping around installation features. The operator ensures all work is completed according to contract specifications and assigned duties.

This job will take place at various locations in the surrounding areas of Calgary, sites are set up to accommodate travel trailers to reduce commutes.

How You'll Add Value

Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment

Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment

Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation

Operate with ground personnel in the work area and under their direction

Operate on public or private roadways while maintaining awareness of surroundings

Ensure proper rigging for material movement

Possess extensive knowledge of excavator and dozer heavy equipment operations

Roadbuilding experience

Understand computerized controls and electronic systems

Have experience operating dozers equipped with TOPCON GPS or similar Machine Control Systems.

Understand topographical charts, grading, sloping and drainage, and finish surfacing for roadways and other infrastructure.

Understand and integrate the use of Locates and how to work around active infrastructure safely.

Operate additional heavy equipment as required to support project need

Wages start at $ 35 - 45/ hr dependant on overall experience and skill set.

What You Bring

Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a Driver's Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions

Valid Ground Disturbance II Certificate

3+ years of Civil Construction experience

3+ years of excavator / dozer experience

Physically able to safely lift and carry 40 lbs regularly?

Willing to travel and work out of town for short, fixed-term periods, as needed.

Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 9 months

Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 60 per week
