Main Responsibilities
?
By overseeing the day-to-day residential life of our boarding students, you will help provide youth with pathways to gain independence, responsibility, respect, and resilience by ensuring the goals, ideals, regulations, and mission of Laureate College are followed and implemented.
1. Plan and oversee outings and activities for students including all weekends, long weekends and extended breaks occurring within the school year.
2. Check and record the attendance of the students during mealtimes, the self-study period and entering and leaving the dormitory in the evenings and mornings.
3. Ensure a visible presence in the boarding community to develop rapport with all boarding students.
4. Monitor the self-study period and support to deliver individualized tutoring
5. Ensure students clean their dormitory rooms and all common use areas as well as follow laundry procedures.
6. Ensure that there is adequate preparation for student check-in's/check-out's and assist with all arrivals and departures during shift time
7. Verify log out and sign out forms are complete, parent permission is received, and follow up to any incomplete sign out violations
8. Receive maintenance request forms from students (and follow up), as well as report any housekeeping issues
9. Aid in morning wake-ups, bus loading and daily reports
10. Investigate and report any suspicious behaviors to other residence staff, Director of Boarding Program
11. Regular patrol premises/perform room checks to ensure the safety of the students and all persons in the residence
12. Arrange and accompany students to appointments as assigned (i.e., medical appointments, airport accompaniments, embassy, etc)
13. Handle infringements and disciplinary matters in a firm but caring manner.
14. Support after-school clubs and activities
15. Mediate and resolve conflicts effectively, promoting a culture of respect and understanding.
16. Be prepared to deal with emergency situations including first aid scenarios and fire regulations.
17. Give residence tours (if authorized) when the Director of Boarding Program is not present
18. Provide open and effective communication with parents
19. Keep detailed records of students' boarding account spending
20. Set up students banking accounts and cell phone plans
21. Oversee student arrival and departures to and from campus
22. Support school events, like back-to-school days, open house days, on campus functions, etc.
23. Support Laureate College's after school programs
24. Attend functions for parents and students which celebrate student achievements throughout the year.
25. Other mutually required by the Director of the Boarding Program.
Hours of Work
1. Schedules (may vary depending on operational needs):
a. Weekdays Schedule for Dorm Parent: 8:00am-9:00am, 4:30pm-10:30pm
b. Weekends Schedule for Dorm Parent: 8:00am-10:30pm
2. Must be available for weekend and statutory holidays
4. Experience working with adolescents in an educational or residential setting
5. Ability to balance both residential and academic responsibilities
6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
7. A warm, patient, and proactive approach to student supervision
8. First Aid and CPR certification (required within two months of starting)
9. Vulnerable Sector Police Check
10. G Driver's License
