We're expanding our production team and are looking for an experienced
Door Pre-Hanger
who takes pride in quality workmanship, attention to detail, and precision machining.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Norfield Machine Operation
Set up and operate
Norfield door machinery
(Magnum, Strike Router, Eagle, or equivalent) for precise machining and assembly of prehung door units.
Perform maintenance, calibration, and daily checks to ensure accuracy and smooth operation.
Machine jambs and slabs to exact specifications while maintaining consistent quality and output.
2. Machining Doors with Hidden Hinges
Machine and prepare doors for
concealed or hidden hinge systems
(e.g., Tectus, Sugatsune, or SOSS hinges).
Accurately measure and route mortises for hidden hinge pockets using specialized jigs or CNC-based processes.
Ensure perfect hinge alignment, smooth operation, and tight tolerances for premium concealed installations.
Collaborate with design and production teams to maintain precise aesthetic and functional standards.
3. Hardware Installation
Install door hardware (hinges, latches, strikes, etc.) both manually and with auto-hinging machines.
Verify all hardware functions smoothly and aligns correctly with the frame.
Interpret hardware schematics and ensure correct placement per work order or project specification.
4. Assembly & Packaging
Assemble prehung door units (slab, jamb) and verify fit, squareness, and operation.
Package and label finished doors for shipping, ensuring protection and proper identification.
5. Quality Control & Collaboration
Inspect every door for precision, finish quality, and operational accuracy before dispatch.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, CNC operators, and installers to resolve issues quickly.
Maintain high productivity while adhering to Quantum's quality and safety standards.
6. Shop Maintenance & Safety
Keep work areas clean and organized; maintain machinery in good working order.
Follow all company safety protocols and PPE requirements (steel-toed boots, eye and hearing protection).
Qualifications:
Minimum
3 years of experience
in a door shop or millwork environment
Proficiency with
Norfield door machinery
and basic hand/power tools
Experience machining and installing
hidden/concealed hinges
(e.g., Tectus, Sugatsune, SOSS)
Strong understanding of
door construction, jamb types, and hardware assembly
Ability to
read and interpret work orders.
Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English
- must be able to clearly understand and follow work instructions, communicate with team members, and document production details accurately
Physically capable of lifting
up to 120 lbs
and performing repetitive tasks safely
The candidate must be comfortable managing constantly changing priorities while maintaining progress across multiple door production projects. This role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask effectively, and a proactive approach to meeting shifting deadlines and production targets
Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and in a team environment
Forklift certification or experience is an asset
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Fast-paced production facility with exposure to woodworking equipment, noise, and sawdust
PPE required: safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, and hearing protection
Frequent bending, lifting, and standing throughout the shift
