Job Description

About Us:

At emBARK Doggy Daycare, we've been proudly providing top-notch pet care to the Tri-Cities area (Port Moody, Coquitlam, and Port Coquitlam) since 2009. Our mission is simple -- to offer a safe, clean, and low-stress environment where small and medium-sized dogs can play, socialize, exercise, and learn. We first started as an outdoor adventure dog-walking service and have since grown to open Port Moody's first daycare designed specifically for small and medium dogs. Our experienced team of dog lovers is passionate about canine care, and we're excited to welcome more enthusiastic team members who share our love for dogs!

Now Hiring:

Position:

Part-Time Dog Daycare Assistant

We are currently looking for a pet care professional to join our team at emBARK Doggy Daycare, located near Moody Centre Station in Port Moody, BC. We focus on the well-being of small and medium-sized dogs. This role is perfect for individuals with previous hands-on experience working with dogs -- such as vet assistants, dog trainers, handlers, or walkers.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Dog Daycare Attendant, your role will include:

Keeping the daycare clean, tidy, and safe by performing regular cleaning and picking up after the dogs throughout the day. Supervising dogs and providing structured playtime with games like fetch, puzzles, and agility activities to keep them happy and active. Creating a calm and balanced environment by monitoring dog interactions and maintaining good behavior. Opening the daycare in the mornings (~6 AM) and/or closing in the evenings (~6:30 PM), depending on the schedule. Greeting pet parents, checking dogs in and out, and handling payment transactions. Sharing fun photos and videos on social media to engage with our customers. Assisting with general office tasks when needed.

What We're Looking For:

Genuine love for dogs and friendly, helpful communication with people. Positive attitude and a desire to be part of a growing, team-focused business that prioritizes customer care and dog welfare. Detail-oriented, organized, and able to communicate clearly. Comfortable working independently and taking initiative. Eager to learn, open to feedback, and happy to support other team members. Flexible availability, with the ability to adapt to changing shifts or help out on short notice. Willingness to occasionally cover shifts at our other nearby locations if needed. Confident in supervising and managing group play, reading dog body language, and encouraging safe, happy playtimes. Willing to assist with special projects such as office duties, organizing fun events, or posting on social media.

Bonus Points For:

Background in dog behavior, handling, or pet first aid. Experience working in animal care settings is a plus. Knowledge of tools like Gingr (dog daycare software) or Square (payment system) is helpful. Openness to occasional overnight pet sitting (up to two dogs at a time). Ability to stay overnight at the facility to supervise boarding dogs when needed.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to be on your feet for long periods and take minimal breaks. Comfortable with physical tasks such as cleaning and caring for dogs. Able to safely handle the physical demands of supervising a group of dogs.
If you're excited to work with dogs in a caring and supportive environment, we'd love to meet you! Join a team that makes a difference every day for our four-legged friends.
