Document Work Experience Clerk, Audiology & Hearing Healthcare

Supervisor of Client Success Coordinators, Audiology and Hearing Healthcare
Position Summary
As part of the digitization project for Community Outreach Services and Audiology and Hearing Healthcare, clerks will scan documents into electronic hubs. They will also either prepare documents for shredding or prepare and label documents for secure storage. They will provide administrative support to the project and work in collaboration with team members in Wavefront Centre. This position is funded by the United Way Work Experience Opportunities Grant and is open to individuals who receive or are eligible for BCEA/PWD (or federal equivalent for on reserve) and/or face barriers to employment.
Key Responsibilities
Operate basic office scanning equipment and other office equipment, e.g. photocopiers.
Prepare paper documents for scanning (remove staples, sort pages, etc.).
Save digitized documents using a file management system.
Prepare documents for shredding following established protocols or prepare and label documents for secure storage.
Develop effective time management skills to complete the project.
Communicate about project milestones and any barriers to task completion.
Assist with setup and take-down/cleanup of events.
Other duties as related to the project.
Eligibility
Besides being legally able to work in British Columbia, each participant must be BC Employment and Assistance(BCEA) clients who are receiving Income Assistance, Disability Assistance, Hardship Assistance, Income Assistance through the Persons with Persistent Multiple Barriers to Employment Benefit (PPMB). Also eligible are Indigenous individuals on reserve or within treaty lands receiving or eligible to receive federal assistance.

Complete a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search.
Demonstrate knowledge or experience working with Deaf, DeafBlind and/or Hard of Hearing Persons.
Please note that Wavefront Centre is a bilingual environment (American Sign Language/English). Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is desired.
Hours
This is a part-time role, working 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The position is temporary lasting 3-4 months. The schedule will be determined in concert with the employee's supervisor. Participants will receive a stipend; this is not a wage or a salary placement. Successful applicants should ensure to seek out independent income tax advice.
