Dock Coordinator

Job Description


The Dock Coordinator is responsible for day-to-day support of the Bison Warehouse Operations providing service to Bison internal and external customers. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling daily dock tasks and establishing the priority in which the tasks are to be completed.
  • Communicating with dock operators about their task schedules and helping troubleshoot problems.
  • Communication with Bison divisions to schedule internal customer tasks and troubleshoot problems.
  • Work with operations and the shunt team to secure the supply of empty trailers needed for tasks while maintaining a smooth flow of trailers in and out of our docks.
  • Ownership of the reverse logistics process to maintain a quick turnover of returns at our dock. This includes helping with loading, unloading, processing returns, auditing returns, and internal networking with Operations to manage returns.
  • Daily capacity reporting. Complete and submit daily activity logs.
  • Ensuring all freight originating at the terminal has dimensions capture, maintains weekly DIMS compliance metrics.
  • Ensuring all freight originating at the terminal has labels affixed to the skids, maintains weekly Labelling Compliance metrics.
  • Ensuring compliance across all manifesting functions, (inbound & outbound) at the dock level
  • Ensuring daily dock audit compliance.
  • Identifying the need and requesting for 3rd party (temporary) help to manage ebbs and flows in volume at our dock operation.
  • Forklift work as required to help the dock daily workflow.
  • Some heavy lifting will be required.
  • May be required to complete load transfers by hand.
  • To work in accordance with all Bison policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as required by the position.
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of maintenance systems and processes including parts administration
  • Strong organizational skills and record keeping ability with attention to detail
  • Intermediate skill level in data entry and spreadsheet navigation, and strong competence in being able to navigate around computer systems
  • Problem solving ability; recognize, assess, report and provide solutions
  • Strong interpersonal, communication & customer service skills
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work with a strong sense of urgency
  • Ability to work in a shop/maintenance environment (dust, noise levels, temperature changes, dirt...)
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
This position is subject to a Monday to Friday shift, hours of work are 8:00 - 16:30 with a half hour unpaid lunch break.
