LOCATION: Fort McMurray Public School Division Office


HOURS: 6.0 per day


START DATE: November 10, 2025


SALARY: $29.89 - $31.66 + Living Allowance


CLOSING DATE: October 31, 2025

DIVISION - ACCOUNTING ASSOCIATE - BAND 4



ROLE SUMMARY



The Accounting Associate reports to the Director of Business and Finance to control cash handling and bank reconciliation for all Division accounts and to maintain the Division's accounts receivable function.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES



Utilizes computerized accounting software programs and develops automated spreadsheets as required. Prepares and posts all routine journal entries to the general ledger in a timely and accurate manner Generates recurring account receivable invoices and others as directed, statements, and receipts payments, and post receipts, prepares and makes bank deposits. Prepares bank reconciliations for Division office bank accounts. Reviews and post all payments from Alberta Education and reviews school account bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and consistency Enters budget amendment entries as approved. Provides general support to the Accounting Supervisor and Director of Business Services. Other duties assigned, including HR/Finance cross-coverage training plan.

EDUCATION

High school diploma, plus Accounting Certificate/Diploma. 3-5 years experience in a related field is preferred. Other Canadian accredited post-secondary education, and/or past experience and training related to the role, may be considered when base requirements are not met.

SKILLS / ABILITIES

Highly organized, able to set priorities, multi-task, problem solve, use time wisely to meet deadlines. Maintain confidentiality. Excellent communication skills and proficiency in spoken and written English. Computer skills with Excel, CIMS and/or other accounting software, Google and other Division computer software. Competent in administrative and accounting practices

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work in an office setting. Travel for banking and to schools as required Occasional lifting for file storage.
