General Accountability

Reporting to the Manager - Diversity, the incumbent is responsible for participating in the development, implementation and administration of various Diversity and Human Rights programs at the Toronto Transit Commission. This involves assisting with project management and implementation, conducting research and recommending strategies to advance diversity and inclusion, assisting with data collection, metrics and reporting, developing and delivering training and education, providing consultation advice and subject-matter expertise, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders to advance diversity and inclusion at TTC.

Key Job Functions

  • Provide assistance to further progress on a given initiative, or, share resources, knowledge, or expertise with others.
  • Review materials and create reports, presentations, communications, or other materials necessary for a given project or program.
  • Identify ways to enhance the quality, accuracy, or relevance of materials or processes; propose revisions and updates to work methods or processes as necessary.
  • Investigate through systematic searches and creative strategies a topic or issue to collect facts, varied perspectives, and best practices to inform work processes, methods, and judgment.
  • Establish a working relationship across multiple departments for EDI initiatives
  • Prepare communication materials for diverse stakeholders and audiences
  • Promotes a respectful work and service environment that supports diversity, inclusion, and is free from harassment and discrimination. Provides leadership in the development and implementation of inclusive and accessible policies, programs and/or services for employees and customers in accordance with TTC\'s commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Anti-Racism Act and TTC\'s policies.

Education and Experience
  • Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of diversity and inclusion principles, best practices, tools and processes to integrate diversity and inclusion strategies into the work and service environments
  • Thorough knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and policies, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario\'s procedures, , the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Anti-Racism Act, and other relevant legislation combined with a good knowledge of Equity and Diversity principles
  • Experience in research, data collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting of qualitative and quantitative data
  • Ability to analyze and present data and research materials in a variety of forms including written reports, presentations, charts/graphs, etc.; and knowledge of web-based applications
  • Experience with EDI practices and human rights related organizational change and
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong interpersonal and effective communication (oral and written) skills including ability to maintain effective working relationships
  • Sound judgement and ability to handle matters of a confidential/sensitive nature
  • Attention to detail with ability to process information and identify gaps
  • Excellent judgement and objectivity supported by strong analytical, problem solving skills and case management skills;
  • Excellent organizational, communication skills (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal with issues of a sensitive and confidential nature; effective report writing and presentation skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure and effectively facilitate challenging learning environments
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of Orders related to the Anti-Racism Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
