YWCA Regina is seeking applications for Part time Weekend Diversion Outreach Coordinator Team Member in the Women's Housing Department. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Outreach Services and the general supervision of the Senior Director of Women's Housing, the Diversion Outreach Coordinator will respond to crisis and provide support from a trauma-informed, harm reduction and client-centered approach to women and families with complex barriers while working in collaboration with all YWCA Regina Women's Housing teams in meeting the needs for housing, food security, and safety.
Responsibilities:
Service Delivery
Connecting with and building relationships as the first point of contact for walk-in clients at the YWCA Regina Kikaskihtanaw Centre for Women and Families
Direct clients into appropriate YWCA programs (Outreach, Shelters, or Residences)
Support women using Outreach and other YWCA Women's Housing services
Delivering and developing programming
Respond to crisis situations in a trauma-informed manner, de-escalate when needed
Respond to drug poisonings and other medical emergencies
Support women and families to navigate government and community programs
Maintain positive relationships with other frontline teams working with our target population, with a focus on agencies providing services for individuals impacted by trauma, mental health challenges and addictions
Actively work towards developing familiarity with Indigenous cultural traditions and engagement with Indigenous people and communities
Establish/maintain positive relationships with other professionals in the community including police, mental health support teams, and emergency services
Administrative Duties
Maintain detailed and accurate electronic case files using HIFIS
Assist women by providing information and helping to fill out various forms such as applications for housing and income assistance
Conduct VI-SPDATs, track referrals, and contacts
Provide verbal and written reports to appropriate area staff
Cooperate with team members to ensure other administrative needs are met
Qualifications:
Experience working with Indigenous communities and cultures
Demonstrated experience working with the complex needs of people experiencing homelessness
Knowledge of the Child Welfare system, Trauma Informed Care, and Family Violence would be an asset
Knowledge about mental health issues and substance use disorder and how to respond to them (Naloxone training is an asset)
Ability to work independently and with a team
Accurate record keeping ability and basic computer skills (knowledge of HIFIS would be an asset)
Good communication and organizational abilities
Crisis intervention skills
Awareness of colonization and the intergenerational impacts it has had on women and families
Respect for women and children of various backgrounds.
