What You Will do:
Maintaining, operating, installation, and troubleshooting all aspects of transformer station equipment, including power transformers, switches, breakers, batteries, protection, control, communication, and building.
Maintaining and testing distribution transformers, including evaluating used/returned transformers, and reviewing project requirements.
Maintaining, setup, and troubleshooting of line equipment and associated control and communication, including SCADA switches, capacitors, reclosers, and regulators
Coordinating station and distribution related work with other groups, including Operations, the System Control Centre, Metering, and external contractors as needed
Providing assistance to the IESO, Hydro One, and the Meter Service Provider (MSP) for metering
Prepares reports determining cause of failure, proposed remediation activities, risk management alternatives, post-repair test procedures, and implements accepted recommendation.
Assisting in the preparation, review, and award of tenders issued to station, transformer, and line equipment contractors.
What You Will Bring:
A minimum eight years of related station and distribution equipment experience, including P&C and SCADA, in a utility setting.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with one of the following: Electrical/Electromechanical Technologist diploma, Bachelor of Technology degree with a concentration on Energy Systems Engineering may be considered.
Journeyperson Substation Electrician certificate would be an asset.
Specific knowledge of GE and SEL relays, S&C switches and switchgear, G&W reclosers and switchgear, Elastimold switchgear, Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), and communication devices, ABB relays, and Cooper controllers would be an asset.
You must hold a valid class "G" driver's licence.
You must have the physical ability to perform duties in both an inside and outside environment.
Proficiency in intermediate use of Microsoft Office software applications and ability to accurately perform basic mathematics required to perform this role.
This position requires a reliable team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
