Halton Hills Hydro is searching for a Distribution Engineer who will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of the electrical distribution system. This position is highly technical and design-focused, responsible for system analysis, engineering design, and infrastructure planning to support both operational and capital programs. The role requires strong expertise in system modeling, analysis, and design, coupled with an ability to provide subject-matter expertise and guidance to the organization.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct system analysis including load flow, short circuit, and relay coordination studies to assess system performance and identify areas for improvement.
Develop engineering plans and designs for new distribution systems, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and efficiency standards.
Perform load forecasting and infrastructure planning to accommodate system growth and emerging technologies.
Utilize CYME software to model the distribution network and simulate various operating scenarios.
Provide technical expertise for system troubleshooting and ensure reliable operations.
Support project management activities and coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders as needed.
Ensure compliance with applicable standards, codes, and company policies.
Qualifications

Education & Certification
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario, or eligibility for licensure

Experience
5-10 years of relevant experience in the electrical utility industry
Proven knowledge of Ontario Energy Board (OEB) regulations and industry standards
Experience in system analysis, design, and load forecasting, as well as infrastructure planning and modeling using CYME/ DESS software

Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in CYME/ DESS and other engineering software tools
Strong understanding of energy efficiency strategies and loss reduction methods
Demonstrated knowledge of line design and substation engineering principles
Exceptional analytical and data interpretation skills for system monitoring and performance optimization
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders
Commitment to safety, ethics, and continuous improvement
Experience with load-flow and voltage analysis in a distribution system context
Knowledge of station/transformer station (TS) and feeder testing procedures
Familiarity with short-circuit analysis and protection adequacy assessments
Understanding of connection timelines for new planned and/or modified distribution circuits

Valid Ontario "G" driver's license with clean driving abstract
Ability to travel within the service area as required
