Reporting to the Manager, BC Interior Operations, the Distribution Drafter will be responsible for providing overhead and underground electrical infrastructure design and drafting.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce electrical and civil design drawings in AutoCAD, Map3D, and Civil 3D under the guidance of a Senior Electrical Engineer and/or Senior Drafting Manager.
  • Review third-party drawings such as civil, architectural, landscape, and onsite electrical for conflicts and information as required by the project.
  • Ensure the accuracy and availability of filed drawings through proper filing (electronic and paper).
  • Interpreting GIS information.
  • Understand and apply electrical and civil standards while drafting designs and other work.
  • Importing surveys and other forms of data into drawings as required.
  • Site Survey for Record Drawing creation using SPECTRA survey technology.
  • Create and develop project construction packages.
  • Prepare documentation and track the status of projects.
  • Obtain stakeholder approval from utilities and Municipalities.
  • Communicate with customers, stakeholders, and project team members.
  • Working with senior members to maintain drafting tools, processes, and templates.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Computer Aided Drafting Engineering Technology Certificate or Diploma from a recognized college is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of civil construction.
  • Excellent computer skills including AutoCAD, MS Office, and related products.
  • Strong collaborative skills and willingness to liaise with other disciplines (Engineering, Construction, and other subcontractors) to ensure drawings are spatially accurate, standards-compliant, and reliable.
  • Work Independently or as a team member.
  • Self-starter requiring minimal supervision.
  • Desire to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Proficient English language skills, verbal and written.
  • Class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.

A few qualifications that would help you succeed:

  • Attention to detail and ability to adapt to new standards quickly.
  • Familiarity with electrical utility design and construction standards.
  • Experience working in the electric utility or engineering environment.
  • Experience with drafting, GIS, and MS Office software.
