The Distribution Supervisor is responsible for supervising all picking/receiving activities while respecting set budgets and keeping interruptions in customer service to a minimum. Responsibilities:
Provide leadership, mentorship and supervision to all warehouse and transportation employees.
Promote a culture of safety at every opportunity with employees. Ensure safety procedures are being followed strictly and that work is performed in a safe and efficient manner.
Supervise the daily work flow in the areas of order filling, picking, receiving, truck loading, routing, and the delivery process.
Identify process improvements, increase efficiency and productivity to achieve budget targets and operational metrics.
Support and reinforce programs to ensure safety of all personnel, equipment, and property to comply with Transport Canada government regulations. Provides training and guidance as required.
Manage Trac POD and Geo Tab systems to manage driver compliancy, company policies and regulations.
Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure effective internal and external customer service.
Ensure standard productivity and error standards are consistently met.
Provide orientation and ongoing training.
Complete accident / incident investigations and internal reporting requirements.
Assess manpower requirements necessary to maintain established service levels.
Qualifications
Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
PC and computer systems knowledge is necessary.
Personal strengths include exceptional leadership and interpersonal communication abilities, self-motivation and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of and experience in general warehouse practices and procedures related to the order filling and delivery functions (WMS, Routing, etc.).
Strong understanding and commercial transportation guidelines, policies, and requirements
Ability to work the night shift.
Post secondary education in operational management preferred or equivalent experience.
5+ years of supervisory experience within distribution/operations/transportation industry.
Experience leading employees in a unionized work environment.
Working/Other Conditions:
Working onsite in a dry climate-controlled warehouse environment.
Required to wear personal protective equipment - company supplied.
Minimal to moderate exposure to hazardous conditions, noise, and vibrations conducive to a warehouse environment.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work extended hours, which may be required from time to time.
