Position Overview:



We are seeking an experienced

Dispatcher/Customer Service Representative

to join our team based out of our Calgary office. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating daily operations, managing driver assignments, and ensuring exceptional customer service delivery. This role is essential to maintaining our operational efficiency and customer satisfaction across our diverse service portfolio.

Our diverse fleet includes heavy-duty waste collection vehicles (front load, side load, and roll-off garbage trucks), specialized equipment (septic trucks, hook lifts, 4500/5500 trucks), Class 1 tractor-trailers (walking floor and tanker configurations), and light-duty support vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

(including but not limited to):

Operations Management & Route Coordination

Dispatch drivers according to route assignments, prioritize daily requests, and plan next-day routing for optimal efficiency. Manage route adjustments when assets are unserviceable and coordinate alternative driver assignments. Set up new clients, sites, and additional pick-ups in the route software system. Dispatch external vendors (tow trucks, emergency services, etc.) as needed.
Customer Service & Communication

Action all client and driver service requests received by phone, text, or email while maintaining positive relationships. Contact clients regarding service updates, missed pickups, access issues, and new service setup. Quote service pricing per established models and forward complex requests to the sales team.
Data Management & Administrative Tasks

Collect and input all daily operational data, including route information, fuel receipts, scale tickets, and asset tracking. Complete daily operational dashboards and monthly customer spreadsheets. Create purchase orders when required. Maintain asset tracking (bins, etc.) as assigned in the tracking system. Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:



Post-secondary education in logistics, transportation, business administration, or a related field is an asset. Minimum 2 years of previous experience in dispatch. Experience in the transportation, logistics, or waste management industry is preferred. Knowledge of heavy-duty operations and waste management equipment is an asset. Experience with dispatch software, route management systems, and ERP systems (Samsara, Axon, or Navusoft experience is an asset). Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with drivers, customers, and management. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and dispatch management systems. Ability to maintain positive customer and driver experiences under pressure. Adaptability to last-minute changes and emergency situations. Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
